Hi Reader,
It's me - Aimée Rebecca -
your internet bestie who is currently fighting a losing battle with the lurgy. This email was meant to reach you over a week ago, but I’m drowning in a sea of used tissues and struggling to stay hydrated.
It’s not a vibe!
Speaking of things that are not a vibe, we’re officially moving into that time of year when leaving the house feels like a personal attack.
It's dark when you wake up. It's dark by the time you finish work. It's raining sideways, your hair has given up, and the only thing you want to do when you get home is put on your sweatpants, wrap yourself in a Snuggie and hibernate until April.
And honestly? Relatable.
But this year, I'm trying something a little different.
I'm entering my winter arc.
What’s a winter arc? So glad you asked!
It’s when you use the colder months to lock in, focus on yourself, and work towards your goals while everyone else is hibernating. And I kind of love the idea.
Because rather than spending the next few months wishing summer would hurry up and feeling like my life is on pause until the weather improves, what if I used this time to actually work on myself?
What if winter wasn't something to simply get through, but an opportunity to make a little progress?
My winter arc is all about the glow-up ✨
Now, before you panic, I'm not talking about becoming an entirely different person by Christmas. I’ve just decided that since my summer was pretty action-packed, it would be nice to spend the last few months of the year focussing on self-care and gentle routines to make me feel like the best version of myself.
And, for me, that means a little winter glow-up.
1. Giving my skin some extra love
Winter is the perfect excuse to spend a little more time looking after my skin. I'm planning to experiment with some new skincare, be more consistent with my routine and give my skin the attention it deserves.
Nothing too complicated. Just finding products that work for me and making a little self-care ritual out of my morning and evening routines.
2. Working towards my body goals
I've been putting in the work at the gym, and I want to use winter to really focus on my fitness goals.I'm talking about building strength, improving my body composition, fuelling my body properly (and yes, that means finally tracking my protein), and staying consistent with my workouts.
Not punishing myself for what I ate at the weekend. Not trying to shrink myself into oblivion before summer.Just getting stronger, feeling fitter and seeing what I can achieve when I consistently show up for myself.
3. Making an effort with my appearance
Can we talk about how easy it is to become a troll when the weather gets miserable?
Suddenly, every outfit is some variation of oversized sweatshirt and leggings. Your hair lives in a messy bun. Your skincare routine consists of remembering to wash your face before bed.
And before you know it, you've gone three days without wearing anything other than loungewear.
(Please tell me it's not just me!)
There's absolutely nothing wrong with being cosy. I will defend my sweatpants and Snuggie until my dying breath.
But I also know that I feel better when I make a little effort with my appearance, even if I'm not going anywhere particularly exciting.
So I'm challenging myself to get dressed, do my hair, wear a little makeup when I fancy it, and stop saving the nice outfits for occasions that may or may not happen.
Because why shouldn't an ordinary Tuesday deserve a little effort, too?
But here's the thing about a winter arc…
It's not really about skincare, gym sessions or having your life together by the time January rolls around.
It's about deciding that you're not going to put yourself on the back burner just because it's winter.
When life gets busy, when the weather is rubbish, when motivation disappears, and when there are a million other things demanding your attention, it's easy to make yourself the last priority.
And sometimes, what you really need is a few months where you intentionally make a little more room for yourself.
You don't have to do everything. And you don’t need to make this your glow-up era if that’s not what you want to focus on right now.
Your winter arc might be about saving money, reading more books, learning a new hobby, spending more time with friends or crossing more off your 2026 bingo card.
The point is to make this season work for you, rather than waiting for the next one to arrive.
Your winter arc starts here ❄️
I want you to join me!And because I know how much easier it is to stay consistent when you have a plan, I've created a little something to help you get started.
I've made you a FREE Winter Arc Habit Workbook!
You can use it to choose the habits you want to focus on this winter, track your progress and see how those small, seemingly insignificant actions start to add up.

My advice? Don't go overboard.
Choose a handful of habits that will genuinely help you move towards the person you want to become. Make them realistic enough to stick to, even on the days when it's cold and dark, and the sofa is calling your name.
You don't need a perfect streak. You just need to keep showing up.
And if you'd like a little more help turning your goals into a plan, my This Time Next Year Starter Bundle includes additional worksheets to help you get clear on what you want, figure out your next steps and start making progress.
Think of it as your little companion for creating a life you're excited to wake up to, even when the weather outside is gross.

So, here's to a winter spent investing in ourselves 🙌
And here's to emerging from winter feeling like we've actually lived those months, rather than spending the entire time counting down to spring.
