Forget 'New Year, New Me.' Here's how we're actually going to start making big changes in 2025...

It's me - Aimée Rebecca - you'r internet bestie!

Happy New Year! And I know what you're thinking - Aimée, you're a week late! Am I really? Or did I just choose to extend the sitting-in-my-pjs-all-day, eating-Christmas-chocolates-for-breakfast period until the first Monday of the year?

Regardless of when exactly you chose to embrace 2025, one thing we can all agree on is that we're deeply entrenched in 'New Year, Year Me,' territory. You can't scroll on social media for longer than 2 minutes without seeing the flash of a vision board. Every other advert on TV is for some weird blend of green health powder. I took my life into my hands trying to get a parking space at the gym this morning!

💕And I love it!💕

I love this time of year because, as a collective, we're bright-eyed and optimistic. We're committed to changing our lives. We're going to do it this time!

Did you know that 75% of people give up on their New Year's Resolutions within 30 days? 🫠

I've said it before and I'll say it again - I'm not a fan of New Year's Resolutions because I think, for the most part, they're unachievable and fall firmly under the 'pie in the sky' category of goal-setting. If they work for you, I love that! I am cheering you on! 🙌

But if you're a perpetual giver-upper of New Year's Resolutions, here are some top tips to make 2025 incredible in a manageable and sustainable way.

👜Leave your baggage at the door!

A lot of times, we focus on what we can add into our lives to make them better. Sometimes a better question to ask is, "What can I get rid of?"

Let's not drag all the junk that's not serving us into 2025. Think of this year as a flight on a budget airline. There's a strict weight limit on baggage so you need to think carefully about what you're bringing with you.

🙅‍♀️Things we're not bringing into 2025:

  • Bad spending habits.
  • Physical clutter (you and I both know you're never going to wear that one jumper that's been stuffed in the back of your cupboard since 2019 so get rid of it!)
  • Relationships that drain you or make you feel bad about yourself.
  • Comparing ourselves to others.
  • Doom-scrolling.
  • Dehyrdration (seriously, there is no excuse for this in 2025. Your skin will thank you!

📝Make things happen!

I love a vision board as much as the next person and I will be making a new one for 2025. (Watch this space!)

However, while I do think there's something to be said for the Law of Attraction, I'm a Virgo. That means I need to be in control. And I think we should all be a bit more Virgo in this sense.

Here's the thing - if you focus your energy on the things that are in your control instead of the things that aren't, I truly believe you'll achieve a lot more and feel far more fulfilled along the way.

And while a vision board is a great way to focus on the things you're wishing for, I think it's necessary to dedicate some time to map out the things you are in complete control of achieving. Enter the 2025 Bingo Card...

I saw these all over my FYP on TikTok and had to give it a go. Essentially this is a fun to-do list for the year. Fill it with places you want to go, activities you want to try, projects you want to complete and so on. I made mine a few nights ago and it was a really lovely way to spend the evening. I uploaded a template you can use to my new Facebook group.

Which brings me on to my third tip...

👯‍♀️Find like-minded people!

When you're working towards goals or trying to make changes in your life, it's important to have people around you who get it. You want people to learn from, become inspired by, and vent to when things get hard.

And thanks to the internet, these people are easier to find than ever before. Follow people who inspire you on social media. Join a Facebook group like the one I just set up. Join a new hobby group or fitness class. Find people who make you feel good and encourage you to keep moving forward.

✨No Gate-Keeping Here!

Here are the things I've been loving recently:

📺Yellowstone - Excuse me! Why didn't anyone recommend this to me sooner? It's got cowboys, it's got family trauma, it's got underhanded business deals. I am hooked!

💆‍♀️Moroccanoil - Within 2 days, this shot into the top spot as my favourite hair product of all time. It makes my hair glow! I've also been using their mending infusion and it does absolute wonders for my frizz! I've received so many compliments on my hair since I started using them. I can't recommend them enough!

🥤Trip Drinks - These are far from a new find for me. I've been raving about these CBD drinks for over a year now. But I'm doing dry January and I can't tell you how nice it is to pour one of these into a wine glass at the end of a long day to unwind. And the bonus is, there's no hangover the next day!
